Distillery Information
Ron Barceló is a rum producer that was founded in the Dominican Republic in 1929. It makes a wide range of premium rums, including the Barceló Blanco, the Dorado, and an aged Añejo rum. The rum is produced entirely in the Dominican Republic, in line with the designation of origin requirements. Sugar cane is harvested locally and the juice fermented until it is approximately 8-percent proof. It is then distilled to a 95-percent proof spirit and aged in toasted American white oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months prior to blending. The company initially went under the name of Barceló & Co. and after exploring combinations of locally available rums, the Ron Barceló brand was eventually launched in 1950. Ron Barceló is now wholly owned by Ron Barceló SRL with third generation members of the Barceló family serving on the Board of Directors.
